Box Score SALISBURY, Md. – The No. 1/2 Salisbury University men's lacrosse team used a strong second quarter to push past the 12th-ranked Cabrini Cavaliers, 13-8, in the third round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cavaliers opened the game with two goals from Mikey Vanaman and Dan Bennett to take an early 2-0 lead six minutes into the contest.
- The Sea Gulls answered back just 20 seconds after the second Cabrini goal with a goal from Cross Ferrara.
- Cabrini responded with back-to-back goals to take a 4-1 lead but a pair of Ferrara goals in the final minute of the first quarter to trim into the Cabrini lead, 4-3.
- Jack Dowd tied up the game at four at the 10:53 mark of the second quarter on an assist by Charlie White. A minute later, Brice Bromwell capped off the Sea Gulls' four-goal run with a tally right in front of the cage on a feed from Ferrara.
- Cabrini nodded the game at five just over a minute later with a Dillon McManus goal.
- The Sea Gulls stormed ahead in the final four minutes of the second quarter. A deflection off a Cabrini defender off an initial shot from Joe Carozza with just seconds remaining in the half gave the maroon and gold the 8-5 halftime lead over Cabrini.
- The Sea Gulls took the momentum from the end of the second with the fourth goal of the day from Ferrara to push the Sea Gull lead to four, 9-5, three minutes into the third quarter.
- The Cavaliers would not go away as the man-up offense capitalized on SU penalties with goals by Austin Bolton and Drift reducing the deficit to 9-7 midway through the third.
- With 2:12 remaining in the third, Isaac Thrasher added a goal from Ferrara to push the Sea Gull lead back to three, 10-7.
- Salisbury put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter with goals by Ferrara, Brice and Jarrett Bromwell to advance to the quarterfinal round.

CABRINI GAME NOTES
- Austin Bolton, Dillon McManus, and Max Drift led the Cavalier offense with two goals each.
- The Cavaliers went 10-of-24 on faceoffs. Jake Huey won all 10 faceoffs for the Cavaliers with three ground balls
- Zack Kaut led the Cavalier defense with three caused turnovers and four ground balls
- Matt Nestler started in the cage and recorded 12 saves.
UP NEXT
- Salisbury will head north to Rochester, N.Y. to take on the fourth-ranked Tufts Jumbos on Saturday, May 21 in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
