No. 2 Women's Lacrosse earns second C2C Championship with 17-7 victory over CNU

SALISBURY, Md. – The second-ranked Salisbury University women's lacrosse team repeated as the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Champions after taking down the CNU Captains, 17-7, in the C2C Championship on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Salisbury used a 4-0 run in the first quarter to go up early on CNU. The run was highlighted by a pair of goals from Emma Skoglund.
  • CNU got on the board in the closing minutes of the first to cut into the lead, 4-1.
  • Delaney Hill and Lily Cavallaro opened the second quarter for the Sea Gulls with a quick 2-0 run with 12:28 to go in the half.
  • After another goal by the Captains, Salisbury went on another 4-0 run to go up 10-2 with 3:02 left in the first half. Mary Hanzsche tallied a goal and an assist during the second-quarter run.
  • CNU scored a goal in the final moments of the quarter to go into halftime with a score of 10-3.
  • The Sea Gulls used the third quarter to go on another four-goal run. Lauren Valenti's goal at the 6:13 mark of the quarter gave Salisbury the running clock.
  • CNU stifled the run with a goal with 17 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
  • Salisbury opened the final quarter with a three-goal run to extend its lead up to 17-4. The run was capped by Alexandra Parker's first collegiate goal.
  • The Captains finished the game on a three-goal run of their own, but the lead was too much to overcome and the Sea Gulls claimed the conference crown.

  • Alexis Kasuda scored a team-high three goals.
  • Kelsey Winters tallied a team-high three assists.
  • Lizzie Burgoyne recorded five saves on 28 shots faced.

  • Salisbury will await an at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament. The selection show is scheduled to air on Monday, May 9 at 10:30 a.m. on NCAA.com.
