PITMAN, N.J. – The 22nd-ranked Salisbury University football was picked to four-peat as New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Champions, according to the results of the annual preseason coaches poll released on Tuesday.
Salisbury collected six of the possible seven first-place votes. Rowan was predicted second in the poll followed by dark horse selection Kean. Montclair State was predicted fourth, followed by Christopher Newport, TCNJ and William Paterson.
The Sea Gulls, who head into the season ranked No. 22 in the D3football.com national preseason poll, have won two outright NJAC titles along with a shared title with Wesley in 2015 and the NJAC South Division title in the Spring 2021 season and are in search of their fifth since joining the conference in 2015.
The squad returns six of the 18 All-NJAC selections from a season ago, led by All-NJAC First Team superback Joey Bildstein. The Sea Gulls also return second-team selections Connor Lugo, Hunter Cleaver, Casey Counts and Aaron Jahnke along with honorable mention pick A.J. Butler.
Salisbury will open the 2022 campaign under the lights at Sea Gull Stadium on Friday, Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. against the Albright Lions.
