Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer shuts out Keystone, 2-0

LA PLUME, Pa. – The Salisbury University men's soccer team took a step in the right direction on Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 victory over the Keystone College Giants at the Turf Field Athletic Complex. Goals from Gavin Miller and Stephen Welsh and an assist by Sean Barwick supported the Sea Gull offense.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Keystone College Giants attacked early in the contest as Morade Mama ripped a shot in the opening minute, forcing Mason Jones to make a save for Salisbury.
  • The Sea Gulls responded with a shot by Brady Young from a free kick in the fourth minute that went off target, but in the fifth minute Gavin Miller received a feed from Sean Barwick and buried a shot to the right side of the goal to give Salisbury a 1-0 lead.
  • Salisbury continued to bombard the Giants' defense for the next 30 minutes, eventually breaking through with an opportunity. Just seconds into the 35th minute, the Sea Gulls were awarded a penalty kick following a Keystone foul. Stephen Welsh stepped up to the penalty spot and launched a missile past a diving Dominic Weber, providing the Sea Gulls with a two-goal advantage.
  • With the Sea Gulls holding a comfortable lead, the second half was a stalemate, with neither offense establishing themselves.
