PITMAN, N.J. – After rumbling his way through another league defense, superback
Joey Bildstein of the Salisbury University football team was named New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Offensive Player of the Week for Week 7, announced by the league office on Monday.
Â
Bildstein, a senior from Ridgely, Md., ran the ball 23 times for 118 yards and two touchdowns in the Sea Gulls' 31-12 win at Montclair State on Saturday. Bildstein has now rushed for a touchdown in seven straight NJAC games, racking up his seventh career multi-score game to boot.
Â
After missing the first four games of the year with an injury, Bildstein has run for 269 yards and four touchdowns over his first two contests. He now ranks top-10 in Salisbury history in career rushing yards with 2,469, surpassing
Ronnie Curley '08 (2,422) with his performance on Saturday. Bildstein currently sits 45 yards from matching
Leroy Satchell '05 (2,514) for ninth on the program leaderboard.
Â
This is Bildstein's first NJAC weekly honor of the season and seventh of his career. He won Offensive Player of the Week once in 2021 and five times in 2022.
Â
Thanks in large part to Bildstein's rushing prowess, Salisbury improved to 3-3 on the season and moved into a tie for second in the NJAC standings with a 2-1 league mark.
Â
Bildstein and the Sea Gulls hit the road again on Saturday for a trip to Rowan. Kickoff from Glassboro, N.J. is set for 1 p.m.
