Women's Swimming heads home victorious over Ursinus in Swarthmore

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The women of Salisbury University swimming head into the winter break with a win over Ursinus at the Swarthmore Invitational and eight new records.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Salisbury started the morning session of day two with success over Ursinus. In the opening 200-yard medley relay, the Sea Gulls took home third and fourth after Swarthmore finished in the top two spots. The team of Emma Schlutt, Samantha Watson, Sadie Hebert, and Alexa Hilty finished third and set a program record with a time of 1:49.90. Delaney Gibbons, Maddie Powell, Sierra Wakefield, and Lily Griffin came across fourth at 1:51.00.
  • While Swarthmore swept the 100-yard butterfly, the Sea Gulls finished ahead of Ursinus as Griffin finished fourth with a new program record with a time of 57.81.
  • Salisbury found success and two records in the 100-yard breaststroke as Watson took home second as she finished in 1:06.61. The other record comes as Watson swam the first 50 yards in 31.22.
  • A record was established for the Sea Gulls in the 100-yard backstroke by Gibbons, who swam as an exhibition time, finished with a time of 1:00.21.
  • While she finished sixth in the 200-yard backstroke, Schlutt broke another record for Salisbury as she set a time of 2:10.59.
  • The Sea Gulls picked up a first-place finish and a new record in the 200-yard breaststroke as Powell topped the podium with 2:23.35.
  • It is important to note that on day one of the Swarthmore Invitational, Gibbons, Powell, Griffin, and Hilty set a new record in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:02.50.

  • Salisbury will be back in action after the holidays, taking on St. Mary's (Md.) on Sunday, Jan 14.
  • The meet is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. at the Aquatics Center in St. Mary's City, Md.
