Women’s Tennis sinks Virginia Wesleyan, 6-3

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's tennis began the 2023 campaign on a high with a 6-3 victory over the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Salisbury opened the day with wins in two of the three doubles matchups.
  • Sarah Cooper and Elizabeth Christine picked up an 8-4 win over Shannon Lewes and Christine Zalameda in No. 2 doubles.
  • Hannah Carter and Evelyn Whiteside cruised to an 8-2 win in No. 3 doubles over Sophia Bibbo and Maya Brown.
  • Cooper and Carter continued the doubles momentum to their respective singles matches. Cooper collected a 6-3, 6-2 win in third singles over Anna Rogers while Carter recorded a 6-2, 6-2 sweep in fifth singles over Kristina Abrams.
  • In their SU debuts, Olivia Hall and Leah Osmon collected singles victories. Hall rolled to a 6-1, 6-4 win in fourth singles while Osmon registered a 6-4, 6-2 win in sixth singles.
UP NEXT
  • Salisbury will host the Catholic Cardinals on Sunday, Feb. 26.
  • The match is scheduled to begin at noon.
