Women’s Tennis stumbles against Washington

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team fell to its Eastern Shore rival, Washington College, 7-2 on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Salisbury sputtered in doubles action. In No. 1 doubles, Katherine Tamesis and Olivia Hall battled in the early goings trading sets with Irene Meng and Piper Sartison but the Washington tandem pulled away with five of the final seven points of the match to take the set, 8-5.
  • Elizabeth Christine rolled to a 6-4, 6-1 win in No. 2 singles over Eva Kading.
  • Hall traded sets with Soleil Namunyola but Hall prevailed in the super tiebreaker, 6-3, 2-6, 10-8 in fourth singles.
  • Hannah Carter battled back from a 6-0 first set to Katie Ruppert in fifth singles to tie the match 7-5 in the second set. In the third-set tiebreaker, Ruppert outlasted Carter in a marathon rally to take the match, 6-0, 5-7, 13-11.
  • Leah Osmon fought hard in sixth singles against Isabella Sorhegui but dropped the match 7-4, 6-3.
UP NEXT
  • Salisbury will be back in action tomorrow against the Goucher Gophers.
  • The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the Indoor Tennis Center.
