Women’s Tennis breezes by Goucher

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team swept the Goucher Gophers, 9-0, on Saturday to finish its pre-Spring Break schedule with a 4-2 overall record.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Katherine Tamesis and Olivia Hall got the match going with an 8-2 win in first doubles over Ceri McCaffrey and Jessica Townes.
  • Evelyn Whiteside and Hannah Carter followed with an 8-0 sweep of Shelby Meek and Sarai Silveira in third doubles.
  • The second doubles tandem of Elizabeth Christine and Sarah Cooper clinched the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win over Eliza Abady and Natalia Navarro.
  • The fourth-sixth singles matches with Hall, Carter and Leah Osmon cruised through their matches.
  • Tamesis picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win in first singles over Navarro.
  • After facing stiff competition in the first set, Christine and Cooper sealed the sweep in second and third singles respectively.

  • Salisbury will be back in action on Sunday, March 19 in sunny Orlando, Fla. against Kalamazoo.
