Women’s Tennis opens Florida trip with close loss to Kalamazoo

ORLANDO, Fla. – A back-and-forth battle went against the Salisbury University women's tennis team as they dropped a close 5-4 match to the Kalamazoo Hornets on Sunday to open its Florida trip.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Hannah Carter and Evelyn Whiteside collected the lone doubles win with an 8-2 victory in third doubles over Soussana Kimbouris and Lauren Marshall.
  • The two teams split the singles matches
  • Sarah Cooper outlasted Ivy Carter in a three-setter in third singles. Cooper won the first set in a tiebreaker before Carter tied the match in the second set. Cooper then secured the win in the third-set tiebreaker, 7-6(7-4), 1-6, 10-5.
  • Olivia Hall picked up a clean 6-0, 6-0 sweep in fourth singles over Molly Stevison.
  • Leah Osmon earned a 6-3, 6-0 win in sixth singles over Anna Buck.
  • Carter had a tough match in fifth singles against Kimbouris but fell in the third-set tiebreaker, 4-6, 7-6, 10-4.
UP NEXT
  • Salisbury will be back in action tomorrow morning against Oglethorpe.
  • The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m.
