ORLANDO, Fla. – A back-and-forth battle went against the Salisbury University men's tennis team as they dropped a close 5-4 match to the Luther Norse on Sunday to open its Florida trip.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Sea Gulls won two out of the three doubles matches to get off to a strong start.
• The No. 2 doubles team of Jhayden Pappas and Russell Willenborg, as well as the No. 3 doubles team of Aron Bursztyn and Jacob Berg, won their respective matches, 8-4.
• Christopher Catan swept Marvin Kuehnelt in fifth singles, 7-6(3), 6-3.
• Gavin Reagle won a back-and-forth battle in sixth singles against Ricky Portilla. Portilla won the first set before Reagle battled back to win sets two and three, 5-7, 6-4, 10-8.
• Pappas, Willenborg and Bursztyn all fought in three-setters but ended up dropping their respective matches.

UP NEXT

• Salisbury will be back in action tomorrow morning against Oglethorpe.
• The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m.
