Men’s Tennis overwhelms Oglethorpe, 8-1

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Salisbury University men's tennis team notched an 8-1 win on Monday over the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels to even its Florida record and improve to 5-3 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Salisbury won two out of the three doubles matches to begin the day. Jhayden Pappas and Russell Willenborg cruised to an 8-4 win in second doubles over Daniel Cohen and Jefferson Page.
  • Aron Bursztyn and Jacob Berg battled to an 8-7(1) victory in third doubles over Tony Molinet and Cameron Burkes.
  • The Sea Gulls swept through the Stormy Petrels in singles action.
  • Gianluca Beaujon rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 win in No. 1 singles over Kirkman Kiker.
  • Willenborg, Bursztyn and Gavin Reagle all picked up two-set sweeps in their respective singles matches.
  • Pappas and Christopher Catan recorded 6-0 wins in the first set of their singles matches but dropped the second set 6-4 to force a third-set tiebreaker. Pappas recorded the match win in No. 2 singles with a 10-6 victory in the third set while Catan dominated the third set with a 10-1 win in No. 5 singles.

  • After a day off to enjoy the Florida sun, the Sea Gulls close out the trip on Wednesday, March 22 with a pair of matches against Huntingdon and Hobart.
  • The day begins with Huntingdon at 7:30 a.m. before wrapping up the Spring Break slate with Hobart at 2:30 p.m.
