Women's Tennis notches 6-3 win over Oglethorpe

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team registered a 6-3 win on Monday over the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels to even its Florida record and improve to 5-3 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Salisbury won two out of the three doubles matches to begin the day. Elizabeth Christine and Sarah Cooper cruised to an 8-1 win in second doubles over Alexis Salgueiro and Taylor Glover.
  • Evelyn Whiteside and Hannah Carter also rolled to an 8-3 win in third doubles over Maddie Nolen and Alyssa Merletti.
  • Cooper battled back from falling in the first set to Merletti in third singles to pick up the three-set victory, 5-7, 7-5, 10-5.
  • Olivia Hall and Leah Osmon continued their strong start to their SU careers with wins in fourth and sixth singles to improve their record to 7-1 on the season.
  • Carter also continued the positive momentum for the Sea Gulls with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Nolen in fifth singles.
UP NEXT
  • After a day off to enjoy the Florida sun, the Sea Gulls close out the trip on Wednesday, March 22 with a pair of matches against Huntingdon and William Smith.
  • The day begins with Huntingdon at 7:30 a.m. before wrapping up the Spring Break slate with William Smith at 2:30 p.m.
