Women’s Tennis earns sweep of Huntingdon, William Smith to close out Florida trip

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team picked up a pair of wins over the Huntingdon Hawks and the William Smith Heron to finish the Florida trip with a 7-3 record.

HOW IT HAPPENED – HUNTINGDON
  • Katherine Tamesis and Olivia Hall, and Elizabeth Coligan and Evelyn Whiteside collected 8-1 wins in first and second doubles.
  • Salisbury breezed by Huntingdon in singles.
  • Elizabeth Christine secured a 6-3, 6-1 win over Meredith Head in first singles.
  • Hall earned a 6-3, 6-3 victory in second singles over Alonda Weaver.
  • Leah Osmon locked down a 6-1, 6-0 win in third singles.
  • Coligan and Whiteside also picked up two-set sweeps in fourth and fifth singles.
HOW IT HAPPENED – WILLIAM SMITH
  • Salisbury got the match off the right foot with wins in two of the three tennis matches.
  • It took the tiebreaker, but Katherine Tamesis and Olivia Hall earned the 8-7(7-5) win in first doubles over Haley Levine and Isabelle Goings-Perrot.
  • Hannah Carter and Evelyn Whiteside clinched the match advantage with an 8-6 victory over Jamie Fine and Maddy Buck in third doubles.
  • Tamesis secured a 7-6(7-4), 6-4 over Goings-Perrot in first singles.
  • Hall also picked up her second win of the match with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Natalie Haythorn.
  • Carter locked in the match for SU with two-straight set wins in a three-set marathon over Julia Pida. Carter picked up the 3-6, 6-1, 10-7.
UP NEXT
  • Salisbury returns to Maryland and will take on the St. Mary's Seahawks on Wednesday, March 29.
  • The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. at St. Mary's City.
