Women's Tennis splits doubleheader with sweep over Hood

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team split a doubleheader on Saturday. The Sea Gulls dropped a close 5-4 decision to the Gettysburg Bullets to start the day before the squad cruised to a 9-0 sweep of the Hood Blazers.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GETTYSBURG
  • Salisbury got off to a strong start with a win in two of the three doubles matches.
  • Sarah Cooper and Elizabeth Christine picked up an 8-3 win in second doubles over Avery Palandjian and Sarah Guistwite.
  • Hannah Carter and Evelyn Whiteside notched an 8-5 win in third doubles over Catherine Haley and Shoshi Dondes.
  • Carter toughed out a 7-6(4) win in the first set over Alex Rieg before rolling in the second set, 6-1, to take the match.
  • Leah Osmon sailed past Emma Ward in sixth singles, 6-2, 6-1.
  • Gettysburg rallied in the first four singles matches to take the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED – HOOD UP NEXT
  • Salisbury will be back in action on Friday, March 10 against its Eastern Shore rival, Washington College.
  • The match is set to begin at 3 p.m. at the SU Tennis Center.
