Windsor, Ortega toss no-hitter in sweep over Cabrini

SALISBURY, Md. – Lindsey Windsor and Nicole Ortega pitched a combined no-hitter to lead the top-ranked Salisbury University softball team to sweep the Cabrini Cavaliers on Friday. Windsor and Ortega spun a gem to pace a 10-2 five-inning win in Game 1 followed by a 9-0 run-rule win in Game 2. The wins pushed the Sea Gulls' record to 30-2 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
  • Salisbury started off the game with a bang with back-to-back solo home runs by Natalie Paoli and Lindsey Windsor to quickly give the Maroon and Gold the 2-0 lead in the first.
  • The Sea Gulls extended its lead to 4-0 in the third inning with bunts by Emily Stockman and Madi Lemon to score McKenna Horner and Sam Flowers.
  • Windsor walked the bases loaded with no outs but was able to work out of the jam with three-straight groundouts to limit the damage to just two runs in the fourth inning.
  • Paoli and Windsor led off the fourth with back-to-back singles before Maddison Lednum hit a two-run single to score both. After Lednum scored on a fielding error, Emily Stockman roped a double down the left-field line to score Carrie Jacoby and Lauren Meyers. Lexie Delcollo scored on an RBI groundout by Abby Mace to push Salisbury's lead to 10-2.
  • Nicole Ortega sat down the side in order in the fifth to clinch the no-hitter.
