Windsor’s blast powers No. 1 Softball to Regional Finals

SALISBURY, Md. – The top-ranked Salisbury University softball team sits one win away from a regional championship after the Sea Gulls powered past the Williams Ephs, 7-2, in the regional semifinal game on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Salisbury threatened in the second inning after back-to-back walks and a picture-perfect bunt by Natalie Paoli set up the top of the order. Abby Mace walked with the bases loaded to score Sam Flowers to open the scoring. A batter later, Lindsey Windsor launched a grand slam over the left-field wall to push Salisbury ahead 5-0.
  • Ronni Ramos connected with a double that just stayed fair off the left-field wall to score Bailey Burger-Moore to chip in the Salisbury lead, 5-1, in the second.
  • Williams cut the SU lead to three, 5-2, in the bottom of the fifth when Kelly McGuigan hit a solo home run to center.
  • Lauren Meyers got those two runs back for the Sea Gulls with a single up the middle that scored Windsor and Jillian Dawson to push the lead back to five, 7-2, in the sixth.
