No. 5 Women’s Lacrosse shuts out Warren Wilson to advance to C2C Championship

SALISBURY, Md. – The fifth-ranked and top-seeded Salisbury University women's lacrosse team collected a 22-0 victory on Wednesday over the fourth-seed Warren Wilson Owls to advance to Saturday's Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Championship Game. It is Salisbury's first shutout since an 18-0 win over Southern Virginia on March 19, 2016.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Salisbury quickly got on the board when Abby Lantos found the back of the net off a feed from Maggie Sanders in the first 1:15 of the contest.
  • The scoring continued in the first quarter with six different goal scorers to allow the Sea Gulls to take the 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Lantos scored twice during the first quarter while Sanders, Ellery Stamp, Grace Doy, Grace Doyle and Carly Hoffman all tallied a goal in the opening frame.
  • Kiersten Hartman got the scoring going in the second quarter. Hartman and Liz Haney would score two during the second quarter to help the Sea Gulls extend the lead to 12-0 at the end of the first half.
  • Grace Milliron netted the first goal of the second half in the first minute of the third quarter to continue the SU run. Lauren Hackett closed the quarter out with a goal in the final 40 seconds of the third to take an 18-0 lead.
  • The Sea Gulls tacked on four more in the fourth quarter with goals from Milliron, Stamp, Audrey Harrington and Lauren Hackett to provide enough cushion for the victory.
