Women’s Soccer powers through Washington (Md.), 3-1

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team netted a trio of unanswered goals to plow past the Washington College Shorewomen, 3-1, on Wednesday afternoon at the Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Shorewomen got on the board first in the 18th minute. Reagan Longridge set up on the right side of the box and fed it in left to Audrey MacNair, who deposited it in the right corner to put Washington on top 1-0.
  • The Sea Gulls answered 12 minutes later thanks to a mistake on the WC backline. With Jordan Edwards in pursuit, goalkeeper Olivia Allen couldn't get control of the ball at the top of the box, and Edwards dribbled around her and another defender to score on an empty net and tie it up at 1-1 in the 30th minute.
  • In the 56th minute, Zakiyyah McMillan took possession near the midfield line and powered her way through the attacking end. McMillan launched one from just above the arc of the box, and the ball bounced between Allen's legs and into the back of the net, giving SU a 2-1 advantage.
  • Salisbury put the final nail in the coffin in the 84th minute. Ava Wheeler took a point-blank shot from the right that Allen saved, and Kristen Ging was there on the left for the rebound, finding the onion bag to boost the Sea Gull edge to 3-1, where it would stay till the final whistle.
