Women's Basketball stumbles against Shenandoah

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's basketball team fell to the Shenandoah University Hornets 67-41 on Wednesday evening at Maggs Physical Activities Center.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The opening four minutes of the contest saw both teams battle back and forth as Alex Bull scored five quick points for the Sea Gulls. However, the Hornets closed the first quarter on a 15-0 run to take a 24-7 lead.
  • Abby Plaugher, Tori Rumbaugh, and Jen Juhring combined for six straight points to start the second quarter for Salisbury. The Sea Gulls and Hornets traded shots for the rest of the half, with Shenandoah entering halftime with an 18-point lead.
  • Rumbaugh started the third quarter with a bang as she knocked down a three. Maddie Kimble responded with a three of her own for the Hornets, triggering an 11-2 run for Shenandoah.
  • The Sea Gulls attempted to claw back in the fourth quarter, but the Shenandoah defense locked them down, holding them to seven points. Hailey Ader and Plaugher knocked down jumpers for Salisbury while Kayla Nieberlein provided a pair of points at the charity stripe.
 
SALISBURY GAME NOTES
  • Tori Rumbaugh led the Sea Gulls with eight points on 3-of-7 shooting while grabbing two rebounds and an assist.
  • Jen Juhring provided seven points, going 3-of-6 from the floor, with three rebounds and two assists.
  • Alex Bull added five points to match her five rebounds, also providing an assist and two steals.
  • The Sea Gulls went 14-of-50 overall, including 5-of-21 from beyond the arc, and 8-of-10 at the free throw line.
 
SHENANDOAH GAME NOTES
  • Terese Greene scored a game-high 24 points, going 10-of-15 overall, adding three rebounds and an assist.
  • Maddie Kimble added 20 points of her own, shooting 8-of-11 from the floor including 4-of-6 from three. She also had four rebounds and five assists.
  • Emily Williams led the Hornets with seven rebounds while providing three assists.
  • The Hornets shots 27-of-65 from the floor, 8-of-18 from three, and 5-of-13 at the charity stripe.
 
UP NEXT
  • The Sea Gulls head to Lancaster, Pa. to take on the Diplomats from Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, Jan. 6.
  • The contest is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. at the Mayser Center.
