ST. DAVID'S, Pa. - The Salisbury University men's basketball team fell to the Eastern University Eagles on Tuesday evening, dropping a 70-56 decision in St. David's, Pa. to move to 3-2 on the young season.
After conceding an early 7-5 Sea Gull advantage, the Eagles (4-1) put together a 12-2 run to build a 17-9 advantage.
Patrick Wynne powered an 8-0 run in response, nailing consecutive looks from beyond the arc to help Salisbury yank the contest back to a deadlock, 17-17.
The Eagles controlled the final nine minutes of the half, using a 20-6 run in that span to take a 37-23 advantage into the half.
The squads split the first 14 points of the second half before a pair of Eastern baskets widened the lead to 19 through five minutes, 49-30.
The Sea Gulls put together a 7-2 stretch across the ensuing 63 seconds to cut into the deficit, 51-37. They went on to score six of the next nine before a 6-4 Eastern run established a 60-47 margin with just over seven minutes left.
Eastern outpaced Salisbury in the final minutes, 10-9, to lock down the 70-56 final.
GAME NOTES
- Jordan Oates picked up a fourth consecutive double-double, totaling 15 points and 12 rebounds while adding two steals and a block on the evening. "Mr. Double-Double" now boasts 12 in his last 14 games dating back to January of last season.
- Reed Rebstock finished second on the team with 11 points and added five boards.
- Brendan Davis dropped 10 points while racking up team-highs with five assists and three steals.
- Patrick Wynne tallied eight points with a pair of three-pointers and four rebounds.
- Leon Elung finished with five points, five rebounds and a pair of rejections, while Aidan Camper matched Davis's three-steal tally in the contest.
The Sea Gulls get a week to prepare before heading to Virginia Beach, Va. to face the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan next Tuesday, Nov. 26th. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
