SALISBURY, Md. – The No. 8 Salisbury University football program picked up a 33-13 NCAA Second Round Tournament win over King's College (Pa.) Saturday afternoon inside Sea Gull Stadium.
The Sea Gulls started the game with an explosive kickoff return from
Dario Belizaire taking the ball into King's territory to the 40-yard line. On the first play from scrimmage,
Ronald Clark busted a 40-yard run through the middle giving SU a 7-0 lead.
The Salisbury defense forced a three an out on the Monarch's first offensive possession. SU drove down the field offensively but came up empty after a missed field goal.
King's did not tally a first down in the first quarter as the Salisbury defense brought the pressure to start the game. On the third offensive drive for the Sea Gulls,
Darrell Walter scampered in from 11 yards out giving SU a 13-0 lead headed into the second quarter of action.
The King's offense came alive in the second driving into the red zone on their first drive of the quarter. The drive stalled on fourth and four from the Salisbury nine-yard line when
Dylan Lyerly broke up a pass in the end zone.
The Monarchs got on the board after a 20-yard rush giving Salisbury the ball back with 2:31 left before halftime. The Sea Gulls put together an 11-play drive capped off by a
SyRus McGowan three-yard score. Salisbury led 19-6 at the halftime break.
The SU defense started the second half with another fourth down stop but the offense gave King's the ball right back after a fumble.
One of the game's biggest plays came late in the third quarter when King's attempted a fake punt on fourth and one from their 35-yard line. The SU return man
Jadyn Thomas came all the way up delivering a hit heard across Delmarva forcing a fumble which Salisbury's
Kilo Mack recovered.
Seven plays later, McGowan scrambled out of the pocket finding
Micah Brubaker for a 10-yard score. The Sea Gulls led 26-6 after three-quarters of play.
The Monarchs would turn it over on their first play from scrimmage to start the fourth quarter after attempting a hook and latter.
Malachi Baker jumped on the loose ball setting the SU offense up in prime position. McGowan would tally his third total touchdown of the game giving Salisbury a 33-6 lead and clinching the NCAA Second Round victory.

- King's was held to just 217 yards of total offense
- Sa'Veon Olfus tallied five tackles which included one sack and one tackle for loss
The Sea Gulls will be back in Sea Gull Stadium for the NCAA Third Round on Dec. 7
th when they host Randolph-Macon College at noon.
