Women's Basketball drops tight contest at Juniata in Holiday Championship

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Salisbury women's basketball program fell 57-50 against Juniata College Tuesday afternoon in the Juniata College Holiday Tournament championship inside Memorial Gymnasium.

In a game that had five lead changes and four ties, the Sea Gulls fell just short down the stretch in the fourth quarter. Salisbury (8-5) started strong earning a two-point lead at the end of the first after facing an eight-point deficit which would be the biggest lead for Juniata (5-5) in the game.

The Sea Gulls saw their biggest lead of the game in the second quarter pushing the lead up to six before Juniata was able to cut it down to just one point at the halftime break.

Juniata outscored SU 30-22 in the second half and 11-6 in the final quarter of action to secure the victory.

The Sea Gulls grabbed 16 offensive rebounds earning 19 second-chance points compared to just four for Juniata. The SU bench also outscored the Juniata bench 18-3.

Game Notes

- Alex Bull nearly tallied a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.
- Abby Plaugher once again led the offense with 14 points while also securing six rebounds.
- Jen Juhring grabbed seven rebounds while scoring six points shooting 50 percent from the floor.
- The Sea Gulls earned 10 steals in the game.

The Sea Gulls are back home on Jan. 4th at 1 p.m. when they host Franklin and Marshall for Camper Appreciation Day.
