Men’s Tennis bests Catholic in sweep, 9-0

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's tennis team easily shifted gears from round-robin to team play, earning its first dual match victory of the season, 9-0, over the Catholic Cardinals on Saturday afternoon at the SU Indoor Tennis Center.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Sea Gulls opened up with three easy victories in doubles play, combining to win the trio by a 24-5 margin. Jhayden Pappas and Gianluca Beaujon won first doubles while Caleb Brightman and Gurv Suri took second doubles, and Mitchell Desman and Aron Bursztyn rolled to an 8-0 sweep in third doubles over Ben Perks and Leyton Ramos-Platt.
  • Pappas took care of business in first doubles over Tycho Janssen (6-3, 6-2), while Beaujon and Brightman won second and third singles, respectively.
  • Russell Willenborg rolled past Diego Romo (6-3, 6-0) in fourth singles, while Suri (6-0, 6-1) and Bursztyn (6-1, 6-0) each dropped just one game on the way to winning fifth and sixth singles.
UP NEXT
  • The Sea Gulls will turn around and host Shenandoah in their second match of the weekend on Sunday.
  • First serve from the SU Indoor Tennis Center will be at approximately 2 p.m.
