SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's lacrosse team had one of their own be named a USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American,
as announced by the organization on Wednesday.
Natalie Held, a junior defender from Ellicott City, Md., earned First Team honors. Last season she started in 18 of the 19 games played by the Sea Gulls, securing 25 ground balls, leading the team with 27 caused turnovers, and led the team in draw controls with 58. She additionally provided an assist for Salisbury in their opening win against Stevenson a season ago.
For her efforts during her sophomore season, Held received numerous accolades. She was named a First Team All-American by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) and a Third Team All-American by USA Lacrosse. Additionally, Held won the IWLCA DIII Defensive Player of the Week award twice and won the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Defensive Player of the Week award three times, with her season being capped off by being named the C2C Defensive Player of the Year.
Held and the Sea Gulls start their season on the road on Saturday, Feb. 10, as they travel to Stevenson, Md. to take on the Stevenson University Mustangs.
