Winning streak snapped for Men’s Tennis against No. 29 UMW

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's tennis team saw its season-opening seven-match winning streak come to an end at the hands of the 29th-ranked Mary Washington Eagles, 8-1, in a Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) matchup on Thursday afternoon at the SU Outdoor Tennis Center.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Mitchell Desman and Aron Bursztyn took it to the limit in third doubles but ultimately fell short in an 8-7 decision to Artis Hart and Jack Riordan.
  • Jhayden Pappas pushed the second set of first singles into a tiebreaker before bowing to Brock Ladehoff by a 6-4, 7-6 (7-1) margin.
  • Russell Willenborg earned the Sea Gulls' only victory on the afternoon in sixth singles, taking down Riordan in a marathon 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (7-5) bout.
UP NEXT
  • The Sea Gulls head south for a three-day tour of the state of Georgia, starting on Monday afternoon at Piedmont.
  • First serve from Demorest, Ga., is slated for 3 p.m.
