Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Women’s Tennis buries Goucher, 8-1

TOWSON, Md. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team won its 10th match out of 13 to open the 2024 slate, burying the Goucher Gophers, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Schroedl Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Sea Gulls grabbed all three points from doubles to start the day. Gibelle Beaujon and Olivia Hall took first doubles by an 8-3 margin, as did Sarah Cooper and Lily Muir in second doubles, while Evelyn Whiteside and Hannah Carter rolled through third doubles at 8-2.
  • SU earned victories in the top five singles fixtures after everyone moved up a level due to a late scratch in first singles. Playing in first singles for just the second time this season, Hall rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Lucy Ingraham.
  • Cooper (6-2, 6-1) took care of second singles, and Muir (6-1, 6-1) powered through third singles with ease.
  • Carter and Whiteside each won fourth and fifth singles, respectively, by the same 6-2, 6-2 margin.
UP NEXT
  • The Sea Gulls will have a week off until their next match at Franklin & Marshall next Saturday.
  • First serve from Lancaster, Pa., is slated for 12 p.m.
