Men’s Tennis grounds Washington (Md.), 6-1; improves to 6-0

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's tennis team emerged as the kings of Delmarva, grounding the Washington College Shoremen, 6-1, to run its season-opening undefeated streak to six dual matches on Wednesday afternoon at the SU Indoor Tennis Center.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Playing with doubles counting as one total point toward the team score, the Sea Gulls easily took care of business by winning all three doubles matches. Gianluca Beaujon and Jhayden Pappas took first doubles by a 6-2 score, while Caleb Brightman and Gurv Suri in second doubles, as well as Mitchell Desman and Aron Bursztyn in third, won by 6-3 margins.
  • In the first wave of singles matches, Brightman earned a straight-sets win in third singles (6-4, 6-1), while Beaujon rebounded to take down WC's Ryohei Kawai in second singles (3-6, 6-2, 6-2).
  • Christopher Catan (6-1, 6-4) and Russell Willenborg (6-4, 6-2) rolled to victories in fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
  • Suri closed out the day by outlasting Aaradith Ravichandran in a three-set fourth singles tilt (6-0, 2-6, 6-3).
