Women’s Tennis bests Stevens, 6-3

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team overcame an uncertain forecast to take down the Stevens Ducks, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon at the SU Indoor and Outdoor Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Olivia Hall won the first of four straight three-set decisions for Salisbury, taking down Polina Odintseva in second singles (2-6, 6-4, 6-4).
  • Lily Muir (0-6, 6-4, 6-2) and Evelyn Whiteside [5-7, 7-6(8-6), 6-1] finished up nearly simultaneously for triumphs in fourth and sixth singles, respectively.
  • Hannah Carter clinched the match for the Sea Gulls with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 win over Emma Eguia in fifth singles.
  • The teams then moved indoors for doubles to close out proceedings. Carter and Whiteside teamed up for an easy 8-2 win over Eguia and Fionna Flores in third doubles.
