No. 1 Men’s Lacrosse completes unbeaten regular season, sends off Cabrini 21-9

RADNOR, Pa. – The top-ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse team brought a chapter in the Division III lacrosse story to a close on Friday evening at Edith Robb Dixon Field, sending the Cabrini University Cavaliers out in their final regular season contest with a 21-9 decision to complete the 15th undefeated regular season in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Zack Reigler and Peter Hewitt helped the Cavaliers strike first, joining forces for the evening's first goal just 43 seconds into the contest.
  • The Sea Gulls responded with a three-goal run spanning just 72 seconds, using solo strikes from Brice Bromwell, Ty Keaton, and Lucas Ingley to take a 3-1 lead with just over four minutes played.
  • Cabrini snapped the rally when Dillon McManus called his own number, narrowing the margin to one with just over nine minutes remaining in the stanza.
  • Salisbury closed the quarter with four unanswered strikes, starting with a Jude Brown helper to Chris Wong to return the lead to two. The back lines battled for over five minutes before Jack Dowd aided a Bromwell finish to keep the momentum.
  • Jeremiah Stafford buried his first career goal on a breakaway chance before Dowd found Brown with nine grains of sand left, giving SU a 7-2 advantage through 15 minutes.
  • The maroon and gold came back for more in the second quarter's beginning. After Quinton Young forced a Cavalier miscue, Brown fired on the fast break for Salisbury's eighth tally of the night. A Cabrini infraction on Brown's goal gave Salisbury the numbers advantage and helped Brown feed Bromwell for a man-up goal just 16 seconds later, 9-2.
  • After Mason Lenart found McManus for Cabrini's third goal, Brown distributed his third assist to Josh Sanchez to kickstart a three-goal swing. John DeFazio logged his fourth assist of the season and the 17th of his career less than a minute later, finding Bromwell to add to the distance, and Ingley connected with Keaton five minutes later to rip open a 12-3 score with 5:01 to play in the first half.
  • Cabrini added two more before the break, with John McCormick sending a helper to McManus for his third score and Connor Herraiz helping Hewitt to set the halftime line, 12-5.
  • Bromwell found nylon for the fifth time to help fuel a quick Sea Gull start in the second half. Brown connected with Wong just over a minute later, while Dowd set up Keaton twice in four minutes to extend the lead to 11 halfway through the third, 16-5.
  • The defenses took the reins in the ensuing six minutes before the Cavaliers found their sixth tally with just under three minutes to go in the quarter, with McManus finding Tommy Vaughan for a man-up goal to return the margin to 10.
  • The Sea Gulls parried the Cavalier goal with their own in the final two minutes as Brown helped Keaton's 30th goal of the campaign, sending the contest to the final period, 17-6.
  • Brown was still hungry in the fourth, dishing assists to Wong and Keaton to counteract a Cabrini score and widen the lead to 12 with just under nine minutes remaining, 19-7.
  • Ryan Della buried a dime from Ingley to join the scoring column with 6:20 left in the affair, while Bromwell fired his sixth score less than a minute later to add to the margin, 21-7.
  • Herraiz and Austin Bolton (aided by McManus) fired back-to-back strikes to narrow the margin late, but SU ultimately hung on to secure the 21-9 final.
