Women’s Tennis takes down Harford, 9-0, on Senior Day

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team honored seniors Hannah Carter and Sarah Cooper before closing out the regular season in style with a 9-0 sweep of the Harford Community College Fighting Owls on Saturday afternoon at the SU Indoor & Outdoor Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Sea Gulls cruised to victories in all three doubles matches. The senior tag-team of Sarah Cooper and Hannah Carter got it started by putting up a perfect 8-0 line in second doubles. Katherine Raab and Ridgley Lake rolled through third doubles 8-1, and Gibelle Beaujon and Olivia Hall handled first doubles 8-5.
  • Carter continued her perfect afternoon with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Tamera Matovic in third singles. Evelyn Whiteside picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win in fifth singles soon after.
  • The match moved from the outdoor to indoor courts due to rain, at which point Lily Muir (6-1, 6-3) locked down a victory in fourth singles and Cooper (6-1, 6-0) won second singles with ease.
  • Elizabeth Coligan (6-1, 6-1) breezed to a sixth-singles result, while Beaujon (6-4, 6-2) handled first singles to secure SU's second sweep in as many days.
