Women’s Tennis sweeps Pratt, 5-0, in C2C Tournament opener

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The fourth-seeded Salisbury University women's tennis team took care of business efficiently against the fifth-seeded Pratt Cannoneers, winning 5-0 in the opening round of the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Tournament on Friday afternoon at the Battleground Outdoor Complex on the campus of the University of Mary Washington.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Sea Gulls surged out in front by winning all three doubles matches. Hannah Carter and Evelyn Whiteside breezed through third doubles 8-1, while Sarah Cooper and Lily Muir took care of business in second doubles 8-2, and Gibelle Beaujon and Olivia Hall handled first doubles, 8-5.
  • Whiteside blitzed her way through sixth singles (6-0, 6-0), and Carter brought proceedings to a close by taking fifth singles (6-0, 6-3) to clinch the win.
UP NEXT
  • The Sea Gulls will move on to face 20th-ranked and top-seeded Christopher Newport in the C2C Tournament semifinals on Saturday.
  • First serve from Fredericksburg is set for 2 p.m.
