HAVERFORD, Pa. – In a match that was decided on a tiebreaker in the final singles showdown, the 38th-ranked Salisbury University men's tennis team found itself on the short end of a 5-4 decision against the 48th-ranked Haverford Fords on Friday afternoon at the Bramall/Marshall Courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Sea Gulls took an early advantage by winning two-of-three doubles fixtures. Gianluca Beaujon and Jhayden Pappas took first doubles 8-5, while Caleb Brightman and Gurv Suri survived an extended third-doubles tilt, 8-7 (7-5).
  • After dropping sixth, fifth, and first singles in straight sets, Beaujon and Suri brought SU even again with a pair of three-set triumphs. Beaujon bested Stefen Johnson in second singles (6-0, 5-7, 7-5), while Suri secured fourth singles over Justin Minerva by a 7-6 (8-6), 3-6, 6-4 margin.
  • All square at 4-4, the match came down to third singles. Brightman dropped his first set to Aiden Kim 6-3 before rebounding in the second set, 6-2. The back-and-forth third set went into a tiebreaker, with Kim eventually seizing control for a 7-6 (7-2) win to clinch the match for the Fords.
