Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

No. 1 Men’s Lacrosse steamrolls into national quarterfinals, 18-7 over No. 9 Swarthmore

SALISBURY, Md. – The top-ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse team pushed full steam ahead into the national quarterfinals with an 18-7 win over the ninth-ranked Swarthmore Garnet in the third round of the 2024 NCAA Division III Tournament on Sunday evening at Sea Gull Stadium.

The Sea Gulls will now advance to the national quarterfinals to face the 16th-ranked Washington & Lee Generals on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. inside Sea Gull Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Brice Bromwell struck twice in the game's first two minutes with a pair of snipes between the legs of Garnet goalie Drew Tyson. Luke Nestor and Chris Wong then added a tally apiece to put the Sea Gulls up 4-0 at the 8:48 mark and force Swarthmore to take an early timeout.
  • The timeout did nothing to stem the tide as SU netted five more in a row to take a 9-0 lead after the first quarter. Jack Dowd scored three of the five for a quick hat trick.
  • Jude Brown and Charlie White found the back of the onion back early in the second quarter to make it 11 straight before Swarthmore finally got on the board. Michael Hardiman netted a man-up goal and Rex Mabbs followed with another moments later to move the Garnet within 11-2 at the 5:20 mark.
  • Wong halted the Swarthmore advance with another marker and the Sea Gulls eventually took a 13-4 lead into the break.
  • Bromwell converted a circus over-the-shoulder goal to open the Sea Gull attack in the third quarter. SU scored the first three in the period and held a 16-5 advantage heading into the fourth.
  • Ryder Matson and Jackson Brosgol each punched one home for Swarthmore to open the final quarter, but Ty Keaton got both of those goals back within the span of a minute to push the Salisbury lead back to 18-7, and the Sea Gulls ran down the clock from there to finish with an 11-goal victory.
