SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's basketball team welcomes all alumni back to the nest on Saturday, Feb. 1st for the second annual "Fight for Ferguson" and Alumni game, announced by the team on Monday afternoon.
The proceedings will honor Jack Ferguson, a Sea Gull men's basketball player who tragically passed away during his senior season on March 10th, 2019, following a battle with histiocytic sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. This combination of events will become a new tradition of celebrating Ferguson's memory and playing the annual alumni game.
The team will hold a pregame memorial for Ferguson with all alumni in attendance encouraged to join in celebrating his memory. One player who exemplifies the characteristics of Ferguson will be named the Fight for Ferguson MVP at the game's conclusion.
A postgame reception will be held at a location to be determined where friends, family and alumni can gather to honor Ferguson's memory.
Those interested in registering for the event should do so
online. All alumni, as well as family and friends of Ferguson, are invited to attend. Those unable to make it can support the men's basketball program through donations to the
Jack Ferguson Memorial Endowment.
