Salisbury University's Department of Athletics proudly announces the launch of
The Sea Gull Leadership Academy, a first-of-its-kind initiative designed to empower student-athletes with the leadership, life, and career readiness skills they need to thrive both during and after college.
The Sea Gull Leadership Academy is made possible through generous funding from
Pohanka Automotive Group of Salisbury, a longtime supporter of both education and community advancement.
Each year, a
select cohort of 25-30 sophomore student-athletes will be selected to participate in a structured, three-year journey of development. The program is built around four core pillars:
- Leadership Development & Team Dynamics
- Personal Growth & Life Skills
- Career & Financial Readiness
- Community Engagement & Networking
Year One Curriculum
The inaugural cohort will participate in:
- Fall sessions on and Self-Awareness & Productivity and Mental Health & Performance
- Spring sessions on Being a Better Teammate & Team Leader and Community Involvement & Impact
- Two all-student-athlete sessions open to all Sea Gull varsity athletes: Building Your Personal Brand and Leveraging Athletic Experience in the Business World
- An annual job & internship fair exclusively for SU varsity and club student-athletes and department-affiliated student employees
Years two and three will focus on job preparedness, financial knowledge, life skills and community engagement, among other topics.

The Sea Gull Academy Leadership officially launches this month, with an inaugural cohort of 25 sophomore student-athletes.
