Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Andrew Barbieri

Women’s Soccer blanks Hood, earns fifth straight shutout

FREDERICK, Md. – The Salisbury University women's soccer program used a second-half surge to defeat the Hood College Blazers 3-0 on Friday night in Frederick.

Hood held a slight edge over the Sea Gulls in shots during the first 30 minutes of the match, 6-5 with Riley Kinzeler making three stops on the Blazers' three shots on goal during the span. The Maroon and Gold took the final six shots of the frame, with Ashley Pantano and Brooke Spadin being denied by Hood keeper Ashley Stine.

The momentum continued after the breather as Jordan Edwards threaded a pass inside the box to Skylar Williams, who found the back of the net in the lower left corner in the 50th minute. Edwards did the honors of extending the Sea Gulls' lead two minutes later by beating Stine one-on-one after receiving a feed from Ava Wheeler.

Olivia Pasko sent in a crosser off a free kick right to the back post for Spadin to rifle into the nylon to give the Gulls extra insurance.

  • Edwards recorded her first three-point game.
  • Spadin and Williams each recorded their third goals of the campaign.
