Football, Field Hockey, Swimming crack coaches polls; Volleyball high in NPI

SALISBURY, Md. – Presenting Roadie Joes Rankings for the fourth Wednesday in October, with appearances by Salisbury University football, field hockey, men's swimming, volleyball, and women's swimming.
 
Football – 4th | D3football.com Top 25, Week 7
Salisbury (6-0) moved up one slot from fifth to fourth with 513 points, edging out fifth-ranked Bethel (512) and topped by only North Central (Ill.) [623], Mount Union (599), and Johns Hopkins (577). In the latest NCAA Power Index (NPI), SU sits in 11th.
 
The Sea Gulls racked up a season-high 56 points en route to a 56-21 road drubbing of Montclair State on Saturday. Dario Belizaire brought home the team's second consecutive New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Offensive Player of the Week nod with 186 all-purpose yards and a touchdown. Salisbury boasts Division III's second-best rushing (333.5) and third-best scoring offense (51.3) on the year.
 
SU wraps up a two-game road jaunt with a key NJAC matchup at Rowan on Saturday, with kickoff from Glassboro, N.J. set for 1 p.m.
 
Field Hockey – 4th | Penn Monto/NFHCA Division III Coaches Poll, Oct. 21
Salisbury (12-2) slipped one slot from third to fourth with 410 points, taking the space between third-ranked Babson (429) and fifth-ranked Tufts (407). SU is currently eighth in the NPI.
 
The Sea Gulls rolled through three straight road games, shutting out Mary Washington 3-0 on Wednesday before downing a pair of State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) foes with a 7-0 Saturday triumph at Oneonta and a 6-0 Sunday dub at Morrisville. Marli McDorman earned her second SUNYAC Offensive Athlete of the Week award this season with four goals and two assists.
 
SU will celebrate Senior Day with a Saturday bout against New Paltz. Opening pushback from Sea Gull Stadium is set for 1 p.m.
 
Men's Swimming – 22nd | CSCAA Division III Top 25, Oct. 2025
Salisbury (1-0) entered the monthly national top 25 with 52 points, good for 22nd and seated between Connecticut College (89) and UC Santa Cruz (44). Swimcloud currently ranks SU 16th in its dual-meet team rankings (568.50).
 
The Sea Gulls opened the regular season with a 241-96 home triumph over Marymount (Va.) on Saturday. Mason Potts and Cameron Byrd gave the squad a pair of NJAC awards by taking home Men's Swimmer and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
 
Following a weekend off, SU returns to action with a massive showdown against NJAC rival Rowan on Saturday, Nov. 1. First events from Maggs Pool will begin at 12 p.m.
 
Volleyball – 23rd | NCAA Power Index Ranking, Oct. 19
Salisbury (21-5) put up strong numbers in the season's first NPI rankings, which determine at-large bids and seedings in the NCAA Tournament. SU posted a metric of 61.070, which placed the team in 23rd between William Smith (61.144) and Gustavus Adolphus (61.055). In the latest AVCA coaches' poll, SU returned to the rolls of receiving votes with 30 points, good for a de facto No. 34 ranking.
 
The Sea Gulls made a statement with three wins over Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) opponents, sweeping UC Santa Cruz twice on Friday and Saturday before outlasting Christopher Newport in a five-set thriller on Saturday night. Gwen Eustace and Elizabeth Villegas swept C2C Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, giving the team its third weekly conference double of the year.
 
SU is on the road three times to close out October, starting on Wednesday at Marymount before heading to York (Pa.) for a Saturday tri-match against Arcadia and YCP.
 
Women's Swimming – 24th | CSCAA Division III Top 25, Oct. 2025
Salisbury (1-0) established a foothold at 24th in the monthly coaches' poll with 36 points, well ahead of Washington & Lee (9) and nipping on the heels of UC Santa Cruz (44). SU also boasts the 23rd-best dual-meet metrics on Swimcloud (520.30).
 
The Sea Gulls won their 16th consecutive home dual meet on Saturday with a 246-81 dub over Marymount. Rowan Odonoghue put up impressive numbers among a strong SU freshman class to earn NJAC Women's Rookie of the Week laurels.
 
SU is idle this weekend and will next compete on Saturday, Nov. 1, in a key league fixture against Rowan. First events at Maggs Pool are slated for 12 p.m.
