BALTIMORE, Md. – The Salisbury University men's basketball team dropped its contest on Saturday afternoon against the Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays by a score of 81-48.
Churchill Bounds nailed a jumper within the first minute of action to get the visitors on the board, then Hopkins raced out to a 22-3 lead in the following minutes. A
Daniel Oyediran triple ended the run, and the Sea Gulls trailed 29-8 heading into the third media timeout.
Near the end of the frame,
Aidan Camper knocked down a three from
Joey Lutz, and
Calvin Thomas made back-to-back layups in the paint to get within 14. Before the horn,
Patrick Wynne delivered from distance to make it 40-23 heading into the breather.
The Blue Jays steadily upped their advantage in the second stanza to secure the victory on their home floor.
GAME NOTES
- Thomas led the Sea Gulls in points (12) and rebounds (8) while shooting six for 13.
- Salisbury shot 33.3 percent (18-54) from the field, 21.4 percent (3-13) from distance and 52.9 percent (9-17) from the charity stripe.
The Sea Gulls come home to Maggs PAC for a Wednesday night battle with the Eastern University Eagles. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
