No. 32 Men’s Tennis bests Stevens in spring opener

SALISBURY, Md. – The 32nd-ranked Salisbury University men's tennis team opened its spring season by winning its first dual match, besting the Stevens Ducks 4-3 on Saturday at the SU Indoor Tennis Center.
 
MATCH NOTES
  • The Sea Gulls started off on the right foot by winning all three doubles matches. Asher Willenborg and Jhayden Pappas teamed up for a 7-5 triumph in first doubles, with Gianluca Beaujon and Mitchell Desman taking care of second doubles (6-3) and Gurv Suri and Aron Bursztyn sweeping third doubles (6-0).
  • Willenborg helped set the tone in singles play by cruising over the Ducks' Vivek Harinarayan in first singles (6-1, 6-2).
  • Suri picked up his second victory of the day in third singles, breezing past Samvid Andhare (6-0, 6-1).
  • Nicholas O'Dea clinched the match for SU in fifth singles, outlasting Aidan Miller (6-3, 5-7, 6-1).
 
The Sea Gulls are back in action next Saturday with a home match against Goucher. First serve from Salisbury is scheduled for 11 a.m.
