No. 32 Men’s Tennis sweeps Goucher, 7-0

SALISBURY, Md. – The 32nd-ranked Salisbury University men's tennis team broke out the brooms for the first time this season with a 7-0 sweep of the Goucher Gophers on Saturday afternoon at the SU Indoor Tennis Center.
 
MATCH NOTES
  • The Sea Gulls made quick work of doubles play, winning all three matches to secure the point. Gurv Suri and Aron Bursztyn wrapped things up first from third doubles (6-2), followed by Asher Willenborg and Jhayden Pappas from first doubles (6-2) and Gianluca Beaujon and Mitchell Desman (6-3) from second doubles.
  • Nicholas O'Dea picked up a win in his collegiate debut, taking straight sets from Tadeo Asprella (6-4, 6-4) in second singles.
  • Pappas outlasted Gabe Naftoly in a three-set first singles tilt, walking away with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 victory.
  • Maas Jacobs clinched the early dub for SU on third singles, fighting of two match points to pull out a three-set win over Benedikt Rummel (3-6, 6-3, 7-6).
  • Christopher Catan (6-3, 6-1), Desman (6-3, 6-1), and Russell Willenborg (7-5, 6-1) assured the Sea Gull sweep by winning fourth, fifth, and sixth singles, respectively.
 
The Sea Gulls will play their second match in as many days with a Sunday tilt against Methodist. First serve from the SU Indoor Tennis Center is 10 a.m.
