Women’s Tennis handles Dickinson in spring opener

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team opened the spring calendar in strong fashion, rolling through the Dickinson Red Devils 6-1 on Friday afternoon at the SU Indoor Tennis Center.
 
MATCH NOTES
  • The Sea Gulls clinched the doubles point by winning all three tilts by a 6-3 margin. Evelyn Whiteside and Lily Muir wrapped things up first in second doubles, while Gibelle Beaujon and Olivia Hall secured first doubles a short time later, and Ridgley Lake and Katherine Raab iced third doubles soon after.
  • In the first wave of singles matches, Beaujon took straight sets from Dickinson's Alisa Steele in first singles (6-0, 6-2), while Muir handled third singles over Chloe Heller (6-2, 6-4).
  • Lake iced the match for SU from fifth singles, rolling to a straight-sets victory over Anabelle Armendarez (6-0, 7-5).
  • Raab locked down sixth singles (6-1, 6-3), and Whiteside erased an early first-set deficit to sweep fourth singles (7-5, 6-1).
 
The Sea Gulls will return to action next Friday with a home matchup against Goucher. First serve from the SU Tennis Centers will be 1 p.m.
