SALISBURY, Md. – The 32nd-ranked Salisbury University men's tennis team capped a long weekend with a second straight sweep, blanking the Methodist Monarchs 7-0 on Sunday at the SU Indoor Tennis Center.
MATCH NOTES
- The Sea Gulls won two-of-three doubles matches to lock down the first point. Jhayden Pappas and Asher Willenborg took care of first doubles 6-3, while Gianluca Beaujon and Mitchell Desman secured second doubles by the same 6-3 score.
- Willenborg took the first point of singles by rolling through Matthew Hurley in first singles (6-3, 6-0).
- Gurv Suri bested Harry Crokam (6-3, 6-3) in third singles to get SU to the doorstep of a victory.
- Pappas put a win in the books for the Sea Gulls in second singles, taking down Wills Belser (6-3, 6-3) for the all-important fourth point.
- Bobby Stabile (6-3, 6-2) took care of business in sixth singles, while Aron Bursztyn (6-4, 6-3) handled fifth singles and Beaujon [6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7)] clinched the sweep in fourth singles.
The Sea Gulls will play their fourth straight home match to open the season on Saturday against Virginia Wesleyan. First serve from the SU Tennis Center is marked for 12 p.m.
