SALISBURY, Md. – The 32nd-ranked Salisbury University men's tennis team won its fourth straight match to open the spring, sweeping the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the SU Outdoor Tennis Center.
MATCH NOTES
- The Sea Gulls won two-of-three doubles tilts to snag the first point of the match. Asher Willenborg and Jhayden Pappas started off a perfect 6-0 in first doubles, while Gianluca Beaujon and Mitchell Desman rolled through second doubles 6-1.
- Willenborg kept things rolling in first singles, besting Tudor Vlad in straight sets (6-1, 6-4), while Pappas powered through Rafael Rullan in second singles (6-4, 6-4).
- Gurv Suri (6-0, 7-5) won his first match of the day in third singles, while Beaujon (6-1, 6-0) completed the daily double in fourth singles.
- Nicholas O'Dea (6-4, 1-6, 10-6) in fifth and Maas Jacobs (6-2, 6-4) in sixth made it a perfect singles slate for SU.
The Sea Gulls will continue their six-match homestand on Saturday, Mar. 8, against Gettysburg. First serve from the SU Tennis Center will be 1 p.m.
