FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Salisbury University men's basketball team dropped an 86-53 decision on the road against the Eagles of Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon in Fredericksburg.
The Sea Gulls (15-7) got their first points on a layup from
Jordan Oates just over a minute in during a 9-4 run by the Eagles (9-12) to open the contest. After a
Kedrick Frink finish, UMW netted 10 of the next 12 to lead by 11.
SU battled and eventually pulled the contest within seven, but the Eagles pulled away late in the opening half to establish a 42-29 lead at the break. A 24-4 run to begin the half helped the Eagles seal the 86-53 final score.
GAME NOTES
- Jordan Oates logged his 17th double-double of the 2024-25 season, dropping 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting with 10 rebounds. With his efforts, Oates rocketed into the program's top 10 in career scoring (1,433) while also becoming just the fourth player in team history to record 100 blocks.
- Jayden Johnson tallied 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting with a pair of connections from range.
- Kedrick Frink scored nine points and nabbed three boards in the loss.
- The Sea Gulls shot 46.2 percent from the floor, made three tries from beyond the arc and hit 70 percent (14-of-20) of their looks from the free throw line.
The Sea Gulls ready for a trip to Newport News, Va. on Wednesday, Feb.12th, facing No. 14 Christopher Newport in a 7 p.m. road matchup.
