Women’s Tennis fillets VWU, 5-2

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team wrapped up a spring-opening six-match homestand in style, grilling the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins 5-2 on Friday afternoon at the SU Outdoor Tennis Center.
 
MATCH NOTES
  • The Sea Gulls won the doubles point by winning all three tilts. Gibelle Beaujon and Olivia Hall got the ball rolling in first doubles (6-1), while Lily Muir and Evelyn Whiteside took second doubles (6-4) and Ridgley Lake and Katherine Raab handled third doubles (7-5).
  • Beaujon cruised to a straight-sets win over Tuva Flink in first singles (6-1, 6-1), while Hall had little trouble doing the same against Zoe Vliegen in second singles (6-2, 6-1).
  • Muir clinched the team victory for SU in third singles, outlasting Lina Hackner in three sets (2-6, 6-3, 6-1).
  • Raab made it four singles victories on the day with a three-set triumph in sixth singles (6-3, 2-6, 6-3).
 
The Sea Gulls will next head to California for a pair of matches, starting on Monday in a neutral matchup against Whitman. First serve from Claremont, Calif., is set for 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT.
