SALISBURY, Md. – The No. 13 Salisbury University softball program opened up the 2025 Margie Knight Classic with a clean sweep Saturday afternoon with an 11-1 win in six innings over MIT before taking down NYU 9-5 at Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex.
In the six-inning game one win against MIT,
Sydney Adolfson went all six innings, not allowing an earned run while earning three strikeouts. The Sea Gull offense struggled to get going until the third inning when they posted three runs.
Carrie Jacoby, Ellen Stockman, and
Emily Stockman all picked up RBIs in the inning. El. Stockman drove in two more runs in the fourth inning as SU took a commanding 5-0 lead. The game was ended early after a grand slam from Em. Stockman in the bottom of the sixth, which lifted the Sea Gulls to an 11-1 victory.
Game One Notes
- The Stockmans combined for eight RBIs, five hits, and three runs. Em. Stockman had five RBIs and two hits, while El. Stockman posted three hits and three RBIs.
- Carrie Jacoby tallied two hits and three RBIs, while Emily Challender also added two hits.
- Sam Flowers earned a hit and scored three runs.
- Alayna Gigliotti earned a hit and a run.
In the game two win over NYU, it was once again Adolfson who came up clutch in the circle for the Sea Gulls. Adolfson entered the game in the bottom of the fifth inning with the bases loaded, no outs, and trying to hold on to a 7-4 lead.
Adolfson went on to strike out the side, getting out of the jam. She finished with five strikeouts in three innings and no earned runs.
Offensively, Em. Stockman continued her stellar day, blasting a solo shot in the second inning giving the Sea Gulls an early 2-0 advantage. NYU would match those runs in the bottom of the inning as the teams headed to the third tied 2-2.
SU tacked on four runs in the fourth to open the game up. The rally was started with a double down the right field line from
Morgan Moxley. Moxley would come around to score off an RBI single from Gigliotti. Challender, Jacoby, and
Karlie Wolfe would go on to earn RBIs in the inning.
The Sea Gulls would add two more runs in the seventh to seal the deal off RBIs from
Madison Lepeonka and Gigliotti.

- Gigliotti finished with two hits, two RBIs, and a run.
- Jillian Dawson racked up two hits and three runs.
- Challender, Jacoby, and Em. Stockman tallied two hits each with an RBI.
Salisbury is back at Henry S. Parker tomorrow to battle TCNJ at noon before a ranked showdown with No. 6 Tufts at 2 p.m
