LYNCHBURG, Va. – The No. 13 Salisbury University softball program earned a clean sweep over the University of Lynchburg Wednesday afternoon in their first true road games of the 2025 season. The Sea Gulls took game one 2-0 before taking game two 11-0 at Moon Field.
The offense came at a premium for both teams in game one as the game was scoreless through four innings.
Karlie Wolfe broke the tie in the top of the fifth inning with a lead-off home run. The Sea Gulls would go on to leave the bases loaded.
In the sixth inning, SU tacked on another run after
Emily Stockman doubled to left field which scored
Ellen Stockman who had singled earlier in the inning.
Game one was highlighted by the performance put on in the circle by
Sydney Adolfson. For the game, Adolfson only allowed four hits in her complete game shutout while earning four strikeouts.
Game One Notes
The Sea Gull offense kept the momentum rolling in game two. Em. Stockman earned an RBI on a sacrifice fly that scored
Emily Challender who singled earlier in the top of the first inning.
Salisbury held onto the 1-0 lead until they added another run in the third off an RBI from El. Stockman. The offense came alive late for the Sea Gulls as they posted nine runs in the last two innings of play to secure the victory.
Wolfe and
Lexie Delcollo picked up RBIs in the sixth inning before Em. Stockman opened the game up in the seventh with a grand slam.
Erin Doherty went on to double later in the inning earning two RBIs.
Justyce Richard earned the win in the circle with three innings of work and two strikeouts. El. Stockman also added three innings of work while
Isabella Purdy tallied one inning. Each pitcher only allowed one hit while combining for another complete game shutout.
Game Two Notes
- The SU offense combined for 10 hits in game two which is the sixth time this season they have totaled double-digit hits in a game.
- Em. Stockman finished with five RBIs while El. Stockman tallied two RBIs and two hits.
- Challender scored two runs off two hits while Carrie Jacoby racked up three hits and a run.
- Sam Flowers earned a hit and two runs while Dawson tacked on a hit and a run.
The Sea Gulls are right back in action tomorrow at Roanoke College for a doubleheader starting at noon.
