No. 13 Softball storms back against Stockton; soars past McDaniel

SALISBURY, Md. - The No. 13 Salisbury University softball program earned a clean sweep Saturday afternoon at Margie Knight Sea Gull Softball Stadium with a comeback win over Stockton University 4-3 before taking care of McDaniel College 11-0 in five innings. 

In game one against Stockton, the Sea Gulls were held scoreless for six innings. The game was scoreless through three innings before Stockton scored one in the fourth and two in the fifth. Salisbury headed into the bottom of the seventh down 3-0.

The Sea Gull rally started with a solo shot from Ellen Stockman into left field. Morgan Moxley earned a walk, which was followed by a single through the left side from Karlie Wolfe. The Sea Gulls would lay down back-to-back sacrifice bunts to earn the victory. Alayna Gigliotti laid down the first to score Moxley, followed by another sacrifice bunt from Emily Challender, which would end up scoring two runs in walk-off fashion. 

Game One Notes
- Challender finished with two hits and two RBIs. 
Sydney Adolfson started the game in the circle for the Sea Gulls, posting six innings with three strikeouts and three earned runs. 
Isabella Purdy took over in the seventh inning, only allowing one hit, keeping Salisbury in striking distance. 
- Moxley, Carrie Jacoby, and Jillian Dawson all recorded hits in the game. 

In game two against McDaniel, the SU offense kept the hot bats alive, scoring in each inning they stepped up to the plate. The Sea Gulls score three in the first, four in the second, three in the third, and one in the fourth to earn the five inning victory. 

Purdy earned the win in the circle, going three innings with two strikeouts and only allowing one hit. El. Stockman made her debut in the circle for SU with two scoreless innings of work, also only allowing one hit. Sam Flowers led the charge at the plate with two hits, two RBIs, and scored a run. 

Game Two Notes
- Challender scored two runs while El. Stockman scored three on two walks and a hit.
- Emily Stockman posted three hits with an RBI and two runs. 
- Taylor Scott earned an RBI, while Moxley tallied another hit while also scoring a run.

The SU softball program will retire the No. 18 jersey of Abby Mace tomorrow before the team's 12 p.m. doubleheader against Stockton at Margie Knight Sea Gull Softball Stadium. A pregame ceremony will take place at approximately 11:45 a.m.
