No. 13 Softball earns Sunday sweep over Stockton

SALISBURY, Md. - The No. 13 Salisbury University softball program earned a Sunday sweep over Stockton University, taking game one 13-3 in five innings and winning 6-3 in game two from Margie Knight Sea Gull Softball Stadium.

In game one, the Salisbury offense continued its red hot streak, scoring each inning while at the plate. Stockton struck first in the top of the first inning, which would be their only lead of the day. In the bottom of the inning, Emily Challender led off with a single and would come around to score after Emily Stockman drew a walk, evening the game up 1-1 at the end of the first. 

In the bottom of the second, Challender would earn an RBI off a sacrifice fly, scoring Alayna Gigliotti, who tripled earlier in the inning. Ellen Stockman tacked on another run for the Sea Gulls with an RBI single, scoring Sam Flowers

SU would go on to score 10 runs in the next two innings, with six in the third and four in the fourth. El. Stockman opened the game up with a grand slam in the third inning. Sydney Adolfson earned the win, racking up three strikeouts in four innings of work. 

Game One Notes
- El. Stockman finished with two hits and six RBIs.
- Challender and Flowers both posted two hits and two RBIs each.
- Salisbury tallied 13 runs and 11 hits while still leaving 10 runners on base.

In the game two victory, Isabella Purdy held Stockton scoreless for six innings. Purdy finished with three strikeouts and two earned runs in six innings of work. Once again, the Sea Gull offense got going early, posting four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Carrie Jacoby and Karlie Wolfe earned an RBI in the inning, while Em. Stockman tallied two. 

Lexie Delcollo and Flowers each earned an RBI in the fourth to extend the lead for the Sea Gulls. Adolfson entered the game in the top of the seventh to shut the door on Stockton. 

Game Two Notes
- Salisbury scored six runs on six hits.
- Stockton left five runners on base.
- Morgan Moxley drew two walks and scored one run.

The Sea Gulls are back in action at home on March 14th for a solo game against WPI, with first pitch set for 2:30 p.m. from Margie Knight Sea Gull Softball Stadium.
